Nice Guys

Hiya!
Today I'm sharing a layout I created for this months 7 Dots Studio Challenge using another Moodboard. I fell in love with the colour combination and instantly know which photo would work perfectly - my son on his 21st Birthday. I used 7 Dots Hazy Days paper and die cut elements. I first tore strips of paper and stuck them down. Next, I mixed some blue Lindys Magicals with modelling paste and stencilled it on through a mask. Once dry, I spritzed the background in tones of blue. I was then ready to build up my layers using chipboard and the die cut elements. I gessoed the chipboard in black and while still wet, sprinkled blue embossing powder on in random places, then heat set. I really like the grungy effect!

Beauty

Hi there!
Today, I'm sharing a layout that I completed after being inspired by the March Moodboard over at UK Scrap Addicts. The bottom middle picture on the moodboard caught my eye and I had the perfect photo in mind. My son's girlfriend comes from Wales, and every now and then she goes back to visit family and friends. This photo shows her with her 'Welsh' girlfriends all dressed up for a night out. I used Prima Rossibelle paper collection for this layout. I adore all the gold details in the papers. I spent the time fussy cutting lots of elements to help layer and build-up my page. I used modelling paste through a mask on the background paper, then mixed my Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals powders with water and splattered the colours centrally over the paste where I wanted my photo cluster to be. I embellished with a few flowers and stamped some leaves that I embossed in gold. I really enjoyed doing this one and of course, I framed it and gave it to my son's girlfriend as a gift. She was delighted! I hope you like it as much as she does.

Hello and welcome

Hello there, I'm Marie. I live in the beautiful county of Cornwall, South West UK. This is my little space to share my creations with you all. I am hopelessly addicted to paper crafting, particularly scrapbooking. I have named this blog 'Crafty Landing' because that is where I do all my crafting - upstairs, on the landing between two bedrooms! It's actually a lovely, airy space to craft as there is a large window and quite a bit of room. My wonderful husband, Neil, who I call 'hubster', has built a desk in front of the window, along with plenty of shelves for me to store all my crafty stash (and boy, do I have a LOT of stash!).

My crafting story started in 2004 when I saw a scrapbooking demonstration on a well-known shopping channel. It was soon-to-be my sister’s 21st birthday and I thought it would be nice to give her a Scrapbook, so I got busy creating one. Back then, all you needed was a piece of background paper, card stock to matt your photo, a few simple embellishments and alphabets for your title. Now, 14 years on, my scrapbooking style has completely evolved and I use lots of different mixed media techniques such as painting, spritzing, pasting and stamping. Why do I love it so much? Well, one of the main reasons is because I get to relive happy memories and reminisce about the joyful times in my life. Scrapbooking makes me appreciate the small things in life like a single moment or saying. I can preserve and treasure it forever!

I have been very lucky to win a few online scrapbook competitions and I have previously been a design team member for Craft Box UK (owned by the lovely Anna Hersom). I have also had my layouts featured on both Prima and Blue Ferns Studio blogs. Now that was amazing!

I run scrapbooking workshops locally and have a fabulous bunch of ladies who share my love for this craft.

I'm starting this blog because I've decided to showcase more of my creations and also I'm keen to enter lots of online challenges that have inspired me, and even apply for some Scrapbook Design Team positions. You never know, right?!

Below, are a few examples of what I enjoy creating.
